I clean the collection cup completely 2-3 times a week and the neck of the skimmer once every other week, unless I deem it really needs it more.

I clean the collection cup twice a week, and the reaction chamber every 6 months or so.

I give the cup a cleaning every few days and the rest about once a month. A little more if it starts going nuts for some reason.

The neck of my skimmer gets really dirty, more than the collection cup. I read that this hinders the ability of the skimmer to move skum into the collection cup so I clean the entire skimmer at least once a week. It might be overkill but the skimmer does the most important job for the tank so it's worth it.

I just rinse off the goop on the neck and empty the cup when it get's full.

I clean the cup weekly, give the pump a vinegar bath every 3-5 months, and clean the whole thing once a year.
