Phosphates
Hi I bought my tank second hand. It was in a mess! Nitrates were over 160. I have got it down to about 3 now with alot of hard work and big water changes. But my phosphate level is still very high. Iv tested the ro water and there is none in there so what could be causing these high levels?any one got any ideas????

It is leaching back out of the rock. It may take a while for it to get down to acceptable levels. GFO and keep doing the water changes is the answer, but it may take months to correct.

 To Reef Central Even a 100% water changes will not eliminate the phosphate problem for the reasons stated above. How high is it? Frequent changing of GFO is needed if it is really high.
