Anyone know what this is? Snail? Other?

Anyone know what this is? Any chance it eats Zoas? It's about the size of a stretched out dime.

I've been having problems with something eating my Zoa's lately. Large quantities of them. I've been purging crabs that came with my live rock, but I recently isolated my zoa frags in egg crate and something still got in and munched them.

Look up Chiton.
I'm pretty sure that is what it is.

Cheers

That is most definitely a chiton! Chitons are mostly (meaning almost 100% of all chitons) vegetarians. Not likely to be what's eating your Zoa. You may have some bad bristle worms to blame. At night, take a good look about 30 minutes after *all* lights are off in the room. Use a low-power flashlight to take a peek. You should be able to see what's eating your Zoa. If not, come back in another 30 minutes and take another look. Don't spend a lot of time with the flashlight if you don't see anything the first time, or you might scare it into hiding the whole night.

Good luck with that - meanwhile, enjoy your chiton. I have 7 of them, and they are very beautiful little creatures.

+1 chiton, and +1 red light. The cheapo military lights are great for aquarium viewing. They come with several lenses and one is read. The bulb puts out plenty of light, but critters could care less. I'm referring to the ones that have the lens angeled at 90 degrees. They shouldn't cost more than $10 or so at an Army/Navy surplus.
