SWC 120 water level

I just have one question. How deep do you have your SWC 120's sitting in the water. I just got mine yesterday so Im breaking it in right now. Its sitting in 8" of water but I see on the website that it says 5 to 8. What is the best for it to make it run the best? I cant wait to hear for only being set up and running for about 6 hours it sure has pulled alot of junk out of the water on my new tank that is cycling right now.

Yeah I have seen a lot of people say that about the 160 but not a lot on the 120.
