Deep Blue Solar Xtreme LED Mod??
Does anyone know that the wattage of the Moon LEDs are in the 4x39W 36" Deep blue Solar Xtreme fixtures run at? I thought if possible I could take out the translucent lenses that make the LEDs opaque and If the wattage is anywhere near 1.5W for each LED I will just de-soldier them and install 6 Cree Royal BLues.
Any thoughts? Can it be done? |

im sure it can be done.. but for the money and time youll spend get new bulbs first.. or better yet a differnt fixture all together. i duno why the shop i work at even carries DB stuff anymore. im pretty sure we wont verry soon though. i swear one out of every 5 fixtures i sell come back.. wether its just a bad bulb from the factory, a ballist issue, and a few of them have even claimed to had smoke billowing out of them.....
didnt mean to highjack your thread saying the are cheaply made, just giving a heads up on possible things to come. but that does sounds like a good idea, if you can pull it off, it will make it a bit like the new coral view t5/led fixtures. good luck |

I understand where you are coming from. I have had this light for 8 months now and have not had a problem. I replaced the stock bulbs with wavepoints (2sunwave, 1reefwave, and 1 coralwave) and my coral is doing amazingly well.
I was just thinking of having a Cree Royal blue supplement LED Strip and figured if all I have to do is replace the stock LEDs I'll save a lot of money. |

I was just wondering if you went forward with your plan to mod... I too am considering doing this as the stock moonlights are barely noticeable at all.
Thanks!
