LF: Lumatek 250w e-ballast
Hey guys,
I just got off the phone with Tom at Socal and asked for a Lumatek ballast, he's fresh out and was in a rush to unload a truck load from China (should have asked what he was unloading). In any case, Tom is my go to guy, but since he doesn't have it - does anybody know another LFS where I could pick it up tonight? Please let me know. Thanks in advance for your replies!

I thought about that, but 2 hour processing time at 4:00pm would not get it done tonight. Good tip though, would work if it was earlier in the day.

why the rush? corals can go for a few days without intense lighting... they call it thunderstorms or tropical depressions...
I would suggest cutting lights off 3 days a month and that will cut your lighting bill by 10%... and it will reduce the algae growth... also, there are a couple different ballast by lumatek, (if i am not mistaken).. they are 'variable' or adjustable... you can go from a 150w to 400 watt HQI with a turn of the switch/knob... Im guessing it is just a 400 watt ballast, (electronic), that has a 'dimmer' built into it? and when using it with a 250 watt bulb you are 'over driving ' the bulb...???? i guess it will reduce the life span of teh bulb, but, you can change the lighting to suit your needs, which maybe a better return on value then just lifespan... gl |
