air pump/air rock
if you have an air pump do you also need an air wand or rock for your salt water aquarium.

I seldom see air pumps or wands in reef tanks. I believe this is due to the required high water circulation rate required to keep corals, especially SPS.

you can use them for a quarantine tank to give more oxygen in the water, but you don't have to. depends if you are medicating with something that will deplete the oxygen from the water.

The reason to not use an air pump in a saltwater aquarium is because each bubble popping carries salt water with it, increasing salt creep. FWIW, I use air pumps to move water and run sponge filters and carbon in SW tanks.
