Your opinion on this light.

I found a great deal on an LED fixture it has 225 LED's 113 white (6000-7000k)
and 112 blue 450nm.
With these given spectrum's, is this light worth the purchase?
It's a 12inch by 12inch square fixture plug and play.
It's being sold for 35$

Thanks.

heck for that price you cant go wrong. the biggest problems is see with these fixtures is no optics. i just read a par readings of a diy fixture, 24 cree leds, 12 white and 12 blue, with no optics at 36" it was like 98par, with 60º optics it went over 1000par at the same depth. You decide if you want a tone of leds sucking up juice, or just a few with optics cranking out the light. i will be diy'n a led setup for my 8' 200g using 150 or so leds with optics. so a diy setup of 150 leds or 8' of tank, or 225 leds in a 12"x12" fixture that might light up 24"x24" area, no brainer

Judging on the price, I'm assuming 1 watt LED's are being used, and probably not of high quality. The 1 watt LED's really won't do you much good as far as output goes. But for $35, hey, what the heck!!!

It's your call. But if I were you I would pass.

Where is this deal? I'm curious as to how this can be done for such little $$$. 6 cents per led is hard to imagine.

Someone posted a link to a setup that had pretty much the exact same specs just the other day.

The fixture was being run at 13 watts. That isn't even going to provide enough light for LOW light stuff.

Nothing good comes cheap in this hobby.

A club memberr bought one of these and we tested it with a PAR meter. PPFD was 80 at about 6" through air. It wasn't much brighter than a single Ecoxotic Stunner Strip. This is a huge scam where you are not even getting hat you pay for. They are just banking that you will at least waste the money to give it a try.

I wouldn't really call it a scam - People just need to grasp the basic concept that not all LEDs are created equal; One LED could be dozens of times brighter than another. So saying that your fixture has X number of LEDs, this means nothing unless the brightness of the LEDs used is specified. The fixture says it consumes 13.8 watts... What do you expect???

Those leds are running at 0.06w each. They are just using a walwart plug and resistors inline with each led from the sounds of it.

This is basically a lite brite from the 80's. I bought 2 for a FOWLR and its not even bright enough to penetrate 3" of water. My 1 bulb LED flashlight is much brighter than one entire fixture.
