Vortech Club MP40w and MP60w!^-^!

I'd just made a purchase of the MP60w. I didn't see any clubs for the Vortech so i figure i'll start one. Please share with us your experiences with your VORTECHs. Why you like it and how it changed your tank(s).

less pumps, better water spread, more control, better extension in polyps, emptier pocket book. Sums it up

I have MP40 on a 150g, can't get the waves going yet... I'm going to try CS. I have MP60 for 265g but it's not installed yet.

The simplicity and versatility really validated the purchase. So many options and from such a clean looking, small pump. Really worth every dollar, easily.

How many and what size Vortechs would you guys recommend for a 120g (4x2x2) LPS tank? Also planning a upgrade to 180g soon so I would obviously like to switch the powerhead over to the larger tank when the time comes.

It's more than enough flow. I can turn up to 75% at most without sand everywhere. Everything stays in suspension just fine.

I don't understand why so many people need two or three for a tank like mine, they really underestimate the strength of these.

With the MP60w about 694 and MP40w at 450, i would go with 1xmp60. You can always get another one if flow isn't enough. but 7500 gph, that's plenty.

I have 2 mp60 and a mp10 in my 210g. They are so amazing that I went and bought another mp10 a week after they came in, to go in my 30g. They are simply amazing.

Had an MP40 on my 90 gallon tank. Upgraded to a 210 and decided to use the 40 along with another 40. Very happy, have them working in sync with my Apex. Originally thought it would be nice to have one 60 but then realized that I now had redundancy. If one goes down at least I have one running. Better one 40 running then none at all.

I have a 300g sitting empty with three MP40s waiting to go on it. I am hoping to add a couple more before it's all said and done.

So for a 120g 4'x2'x2' mixed tank would people recommend 2 MP40's (one on each sidewall) or 2 MP60's?

Would the MP60's be quieter than the MP40's? Or would two MP60's provide too much flow?
Any advice welcomed!

From what I have read the 60's would be quieter because you wouldn't run them full blast. That being said, I don't think you would run the 40's full blast on a 4' tank.

I bought two MP40's for my 6' 180. I can't comment on them yet though as I haven't received them and I am still at least a month from completing my build.

It would be complete and total overkill to get 60's on that size tank. You won't be able to run dual 40s on full without parting your sand bed in your tank. The 60s lowest setting is higher than the 40s max.

Mp40 and mp10 in my 75. I run them at 50% reefcrest/short pulse and have awesome flow/waves. Even at 50% speed the undertow keeps some of my shrooms from fully extending! Have the battery backup for them and worth every penny I've spent on Vortech.
