uv sterilizer question
what uv do you recomend for a 400-500 gal system? I was thinking either a 36 watt turbo twist or a 80 watt life guard

I would save the money, I used to use them, I never noticed anything beneficial from their use. I would even go further & say that for a Reef tank, they might even have a negative effect, killing small organisms, peds & pods that are positive additions to our tanks.
