Question which mag for proflex model 3 sump

hey guys im running a 90 gal tank with the model 3 proflex sump. i want to run the reef octopus xs 160 in the sump but not too sure what mag pump should i go with. i was considering the mag 9.5 and add a union fitting with a check valve and ball valve to control the flow. will the mag 9.5 be ok water flow as well as fitment in the third chamber with the octopus. thanks guys for your time.

Your overflow will probably be the limiting factor but the 9.5 should be more than enough if you don't run anything off of it. When I ran my 9.5 through my chiller up to my 75 the overflow still had trouble keeping up but after making a manifold to feed a BP reactor and a separate refuge it slowed it down somewhat. Personally I like having my skimmer in the middle section which never changes water level even 1/4 inch to make the skimmer happy and stable. If you run a skimmer in the third compartment an ATO is essential IMHO.

do you have a picture of this. i hate how the model 3s third chamber is so damn small! i want to bump it up to the model 4 but not too sure if it will fit under my stand depth wise. also angling it in might be a problem since its longer but who knows. but if you could post some pics that would be nice i never seen the skimmer in the middle before

The skimmer is on a homebrew PVC stand with a top made from an old drip tray off my old wet dry. The refuge is compartment cut out of the same old wet/dry. the olny reason the skimate looks so watery is I just messed with the BP reactor before the photo and it made the skimmer go nuts with the output going right in front of the skimmer
