Sunpod 150 Hqi for frag tank?

So Im putting together a frag tank.....and trying to re-use as much equipment as I can to keep costs down.

Tank is a 30 gallon breeder.....dimensions (36L 18W 12 Deep)

Frags are going to be zoas, rics, shrooms, xenia, and maybe some lps.

Question:

I have a spare sunpod 150 mh with a phoenix 14k bulb.......Lets say I hand it about 1' above the tank..........is this going to be enough light to get some decent growth? How about coverage since the tank is so long?

thanks everyone!!

you are going to have some loss on the sides unless you can get it higher. But those let intense places would be good for the some of the softies.

it will be be fine hung at a normal sunpod hanging height of 8" or so. Sunpod (with any bulb) is more than enough light to grow everything you listed out of control. Works decent enough for sps too (and for caps see above, more than enough. Grew fine on the bare bottom of my 16" tall 30g long even with 20k bulbs (using the supplied legs). I have mine hung about 8" over the water and never had a problems with growth. its no lumenbright but its okay for anything less than the most dedicated sps tank.

I had a sunpod 250 watt and changed to a regular 250 watt pendent and doubled my par on my meter. I sold it.

Sunpods have really bad reflectors.
