They make in sump skimmers and external skimmers. So you have decided that you want an internal skimmer that will sit in your sump and has to have the water up to a certain level on the protein skimmer. Reef octopus and Bubble magnus are 2 brands of skimmers that I would recommend.

I also recommend, and use, reef octopus. I have the Super Reef Octopus Internal- 1000 for my 55 reef and I couldn't be happier.

does it make that much a difference if i get a needlewheel skimmer or cone shaped cuz im noticin quite the price difference...also should idk if i should get the 100g or the 150g. i know i dont have more than a 100g but i want this thing to really cut the crap out of the water so to speak.

IMO, the cone skimmers are not worth the extra cash. Bigger is better within reason.

you generally don't include the sump volume when you choose a skimmer but the SRO-1000 would be a great skimmer. It is the upper end of the scale. http://www.aquacave.com/reef-octopus...mmer-2996.html

You don't need a cone shape but the smoother the transition the more stable the foam.

These would also work.

Stay away from the two at your fish store!

The SRO-1000 is rated to 125 gallons if I remember correctly. It's a good idea to have a skimmer rated higher than your tank volume but not one that's way to big. IMO the 100g would do great, but another thing to consider is the possibility of wanting to upgrade your tank size. If you get the 100g skimmer and end up upgrading to a 90 gal aquarium down the road it might not cut it, as opposed to if you got the skimmer for 150g you could use it for a future tank too.

Another thing you must consider is how stocked your tank will be. If you're going to have a fully stocked and heavily fed tank, a higher gallon skimmer would most likely do great.

I like the cone skimmers, but I feel the "partial cone" (SRO design) work great and is the best value for your money.

I have reef octopus and I'm very satisfied with it! I agree with a.browning when making your decision.
