1) Use it externally.
2) Modify the stand. 3) Sell it and buy one you can use (measure first this time). Jeff |

The height of these skimmers is what determines the efficiency. It increases the dwell time of the bubbles. They're old-fashioned and rather a pain to keep up, the diffuser blocks need to be replaced monthly to keep them working. But they work fine.
You can modify the height as you wish, just that you'll decrease the efficiency. You should be able to modify the plumbing with no issues. Though you'll never get better performance, you shouldn't do much worse. Jeff |

The height of the skimmer will dictate if you can run it under cabinet. I have the same skimmer in my closet not being used anymore. It is designed to be out of the sump. Just use a feed pump to take water from the sump to the skimmer. The water can travel up over the sump depending on what feed pump you are using. The air stones will have to be changed every three weeks for the best sized bubbles. The lime wood air stones tend to increase their size as they age which decreases efficiency.

The best way to return the water is to drill a bulkhead inline with the gate valve in your pic. It should be a 1 1/2" bulk head.
