Tang Identification
I do not have my own aquarium yet, so to quell my "addiction" to all things reef, i always look at the saltwater section of Petco. Usually its the same old standard, a bunch of clowns, a yellow tang, maybe sometimes a snowflake eel. but went i went in the other day, i came across this guy, and he quickly grew on me. i have never seen a tang like this before, and haven't been able to find anything on it since. could someone possibly identify it for me, as i would seriously consider making it the centerpiece of my future aquarium?

Looks like a powder brown, albeit a little darker than normal (though this may be just the camera/lighting).
These guys are highly susceptible to ich. If you decide to get one, regardless of where you get it from, make sure to quarantine this guy first. Also, you are going to want a 6ft 150g+ long-term for this guy.

Powder Brown or Gold Rim. Hard to tell from pic.

I suppose after looking at more pictures it is a powder brown. I was just a little thrown off because it is darker, it is not the lighting. when i looked at it, it almost appeared black, and whenever i had seen a powder brown tang before, they were always a grayish color. but thanks everyone for the help, hopefully ill be able to get started soon enough!

I had a powder brown ... they will get darker when excited. Very cool to watch. If you have a tank large enough for one and plan to get one add it LAST. As with virtually ALL tangs they can become very aggressive/territorial once they are established in the tank.

wow you're lucky! our petco never has cool fish like this! definitely looks like a powder brown to me
