Steps to take to re aquascape?

So in my 40g im not particularly happy about the the aqua scaping done. The tank is about 4 months old right now.

I wanted to re do the scaping. Was wondering if there were any side affects of doing so.

All of my fish and coral would be in 5 gallon containers with power heads and heaters. Move around the rocks to where i want them, do a 50% water change, and then drip acclimate everything.

Does that sound right?

to be honest. any time i've reaquascaped my tank i've just left my fish in my tank. but if you're worried about them getting crushed by a falling rock then take them out.
I usually kill the power to the whole tank. fill all my rubbermaids up with my tank water so i can put my rock and coral in them. I leave my fish in. and work around them . Put every thing back in the way i want it. pour my water back in . and turn the power back on . I don't have to reacclimate my fish since all the water is the same temp . I also don't think the 50% w/c is necessary. make sure you have extra salt water though because you obviously will lose some in moving the rocks and stuff. no matter how hard you try it always manages to disappear ahah.
