15 dollar petco powerheads!
I have been using a 250 GPH petco powerhead for mixing my salt for the past 3 months
I attach this pump to a lifter tube so it sucks the water from the bottom and shoots it out at the top of the barrel. well when the water gets low the pump comes out of the water but as long as the power continues it keeps pumping water up. well a week ago we had a 10 second outage during a storm. I never thought about it but the water dropped and my pump has been running dry ever since . I went to do a water change today and saw my pump was warm and not running. I rinsed the pump off, dropped it in a bucket of water, and it started right up. For a general purpose utility pump ya can't beat these things! |

Except they have an oddball fitting.
![]() I still have one working in the tank, it's been hanging in for years. Jeff |
