Custom sump builders
I am in the market for a custom sump. I don't want just a normal, something that adds to the look of my tank once the cabinet is open. What companies or who builds the nice custom sumps. I really like the trigger system sumps but what other options are out there?

A local company here in Utah builds amazing sumps! All of his acrylic work is top notch. I am sure he could do whatever you are looking for and his prices are really competitive. Shipping would be the only real snag but it can be done.
FYI - I have no monetary interest in this guys company. I don't work for him or have any other motivations. A lot of locals around me get everything from him because he is the best in state. Here is his website: http://elite-aquatics.net/ Hope that helps!

I had this sump made for $265+shipping by John Hoang. He does a great job and for fairly good price. If you can design it, he can build it. Only thing is that he is not always easy to reach(search John Hoang or Advance Acrylics here). He made this one for me in about 10 days.
His email addy: adv.acrylics@yahoo.com

John Hoang made my sump too.. very nice price.. but he forgot to ship a small thing I wanted in addition for the sump.. He said he was sorry and would ship it but never did.. I tried contacting him but he never responded.. I guess he didn't want to spend another $10 bucks to ship me a small piece of acrylic...

What size is that sump in the corner stand? Nice looking sump, but I have an external pump, so that would not work. I am looking at a 20x10x16. I have a AGA corner 54g with a rubbermaid tote as a sump. Looking to up grade. I checked out Advance Acrylics a while back, he is on ebay. I might just get a tank from glasscages for $95 and do the inside stuff myself. I would have to drill it anyway because most folks who custom build them don't want to do that.

Lifereef, MRC, Reef Mania, AE-tech are others I've seen.
I like some of Advanced Arcylics designs and their sumps appearances but it's hit-or-miss apparently with that guy service wise. I ended up making my own, but yeah if you're local Vivid is the bomb too. |
