36g bow front update: with pics
had my tank running for a little while now, just picked up a coral beauty this weekend and decided to change my aquascaping up, so i snapped a couple pics.
Also have been debating on upgrading to a 40g breeder with a sump to get all the equipment out of the tank, i hate seeing it in there, any thoughts or comments?? |

thanks.
anyone know if it would be ok to just run my skimmer with no powerfilter, or should i run both? i have a aquaclear 70, with just the sponge and activated carbon in it. And the skimmer is a aquamaxx HOB-1 |

You don't need a power filter at all if you have enough LR and keep up on water changes. A good skimmer helps a lot too, which you have.

I would still use the HOB to run a little filter floss and carbon/GFO. Just change the floss every few days and rinse the filter out completely every couple of weeks. Just helps keep the water clear and the media helps a little with nutrient control. Agree with getting a skimmer down the road if you can. Nice bowfront!

thanks, and good point harthag12, but to be honest im trying not to use it because it is quite noisy, and my tank is in my living room, plus the less i have hanging in my tank the cleaner it looks inside
well got another hydor 550, so decided to ditch the aquaclear for a little while and see how it does with 2 powerheads and a skimmer. Also went and picked up 4 trochus snails, 2 hermit crabs, and 2 mexican turbo snails today. |
