bubble coral receeding(pic)
i have had this coral about 7 months. it has starting receeding(dying?) the last week. I did check my phospates- last week they were 0, this week they are .5, so I changed out the phosban in my reactor. today. i had installed it about 1 1/2 months ago. i did have little hair algae, but its all gone now, did have a little diatoms, gone now.(was overfeeding) my other numbers-- ph 8.2, ammonia 0, carb hardness 11, nitrates 0, salinity is 1.026, the only thing i did dose was coral frenzy and cyclopseeze.please give some advise if you have any idea. |

Ive had a big green bubble for several months, and in the past 2 weeks it hasn't fully opened once. I get partiL opening only and even then I notice that it's sort of opening and closing frequently. I've been playing with flow And I think that's the issue, get I can't seem to get a decent flow pattern that works for the whole tank but doesn't big the bubble. I'm going to move some things around this weekend and see if I can find a better spot for it. Has anything changed with flow in your yank?

They are difficult creatures to keep long term, in many tanks they do well for a good long time, and then up and die rapidly. It's likely that you didn't do anything wrong.

Is it getting a lot of direct flow? You might want to dip the coral in an iodine solution (lugol's) to stop any bacterial infection from progressing. Sometimes in a scenario where the coral is exposed to a lot of flow, the soft tissue will bump and tear against the sharp ridges of the skeletal base, creating a lesion where bacteria may enter and infect the coral.

I've lost a couple over the years. Like it was said they can do fine for years then die. A local Reef Guru said they don't like direct current and bright light. Maybe I'll get another and take his advice.

Its a LPS and like higher more steady calcium reading , and good lighting and medium water flow. I would go mid level useing an epoxy to secure it to some LR.
