Coincidence or Not? TLF Reactors causing Algae?
After I put in my TLF 150s (one for carbon, one for phosban), I noticed the tank glass is now covered more in a brown filmy substance. It was never there before the TLFs were installed. Am I doing something wrong here?

Did you rinse the phosban?

Just clean the glass as you normally would and run a separate filter with some filter floss in it. Or take out the GFO and run some floss in the tlf reactor. For floss, just pick up some polyfill pillow stuffing from walmart and use that. May have to clean the glass a few times however while it is removed from the water column.

When then, will it be okay to put the GFO (this time, rinsed) back in?

As soon as you clean up all the dust the un-rinsed gfo left.

Polyfill is the cheapest typically. Walmart and places like AC Moore carries it. Different sized bags. I love this stuff!!
My LFS owner actually told me to not buy the filter floss he sold and to go to AC Moore and get much, much more of it for a fraction of the cost.(that's when I became loyal to his store) I run an hob aquaclear with polyfill in it any time I have a cloud, whether it be from moved rock or sand, unproper/too fast water change, sea hare death, etc. Especially after I first setup a tank with sand.

Do they sell Polyfill at Target? Surprisingly enough, I don't live near a Walmart.
