Question about QT water changes
Hey guys,
So I currently have a 55gallon reef display and a 20 gallon QT. I've been doing separate water changes on them to keep the nitrates down in the DT and the ammonia down in the QT. I was wondering if there would be any problems with using the water from my display as the water for the QT? So I would take the new water and put it in my display (10% change) and then take the exchanged water from the display for the water in my QT (25% change). I'm assuming this is ok because the ammonia level of my display is 0ppm... and that's what I'm trying to lower in the QT. Anyone know of any problems or drawbacks of doing this? Thanks!

That depends....are you QT'ing because the fish were once in the display, and fell prey to a parasite of sorts? In that case, no, it's a bad idea, you don't know what stage the parasite is in and could run the chance of re-infecting the fish in the QT.

No, this is a QT for fish from my lfs. My display has never had any problems (that I'm aware of).
