Do any of you grow chalices and SPS under 4 T5s.
Any one have any luck growing chalices and SPS with just 4 t5s? I have a 72 bowfront with 4 T5s and every chalice or sps I put in the tank dies off or starts receding within a week. I have dosed for red bugs but no luck. I have moved them all over the tank but no luck. All my soft corals do fine.

It all depends on placement. Your chalices will probably do better mid to bottom. sps nearer to the top. I have the same tank with an icecap t5 retro kit and I even have clams growing in the bottom. I suspect it might be something else rather than lighting.

I have the same type of tank as well with 4 T5's and I'm able to keep all types of SPS without a problem. I do need to place them in the top half of the tank for them to keep their bright colors. As bunzaroo said I suspect it is something else causing your losses.

This chalice is under 4 T5's with no reflectors. It's about a third the way up in my 75. It's growing like a weed. We just fragged it a few months ago and it's already the size of a dinner plate again.

I had a four bulb ati t5 fixture over a 55 gal tank and had no problems growing sps. The T5 setup makes a huge difference in output and Par.

I grow SPS under four T5, a lot of it has to do with what ballast, reflectors, bulbs you use, or what fixture

i would suspect water quality or water movement to be the cause of the casualties...or your bulbs are very old and have lost their spectrum or PAR...

Chalice is an lps coral that'll do fine under 4 bulb t5. They dnt require strong lighting anyway
