Bubble anemone bubbles

I know several here will want to reassure that it is not unusual for the bubble tip anemone to not bubble, and not worry about it. Thank you for that reassurance, but that's not what I am looking for. I am looking for success stories, people who are able to keep the bubble tip bubbles bubbled and how they were able to do it.

Thanks!!

I have two bleached bubble tips, they are getting better as I am starting to see a slight red hue in the tips. Any way, mine seem to be bubbled most of the time. I don't do anything in particular. I honestly don't think my tank is up to par for them, but if they are getting better than it must be okay. I feed 3-5 mysis per nem every three days, and do a 10% water change once a week. That is all I do and they stay bubbled about 95% of the time.

Less flow seems to help. Other than that they do what they want

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Based on readings I've done, big factor seems to be lights. Intense lights keep the anemones compact and bubbled, while poor light makes them expand to expose as much tissue to the light, according to one source.

Captainfester, do you have yours in low flow?

Reefing Newbie, what lights do you have in that 125 gal reef with the two bubble tips?

Thanks agaon for the responses.

I have 4x 160 watt VHOs. Two are blue acintics and the other two are daylight bulbs. I will be switching over go LEDs later this year when I can afford them and see how that goes. I will probably have different BTAs because my tank is being restarted and I don't think they can thrive under PCs let alone in my future QT tank lol.

No one has come up with a concrete way to keep them.

I personally have tried the following, and nothing changed;

High light (( 2*250 MH + 4*54 T5 over a 75 ))
Low light (( 6*55 PC over a 75 ))
Low flow/high flow
Direct feedings/no direct feedings
Hosting clowns/not hosting clowns

Thanks again, all. Guess it really is hard to pinpoint specific factors or combination of factors.

Here's the un-bubbled Bubble tip I'm trying to bubble up:

Bought it about a year ago, nicely bubble tipped at the LFS, hosting several clowns. Wandered around my tank for only a day, then settled into that rock and has been there for a year. The spot it chose is one of the few places in my tank that has a combination of strong light and low-moderate flow. It is about 14" deep directly under an MH bulb, and the flow it gets is a broad backwash flow from all the returns and powerheads. Those two percs took about a week to develop a relationship with it when the anemone was first placed, and now are hosted by it. Lost the bubble tips about 2 weeks in, and has never had them again. It is growing, though, almost 12" in diameter now. I feed it a silverside or shrimp once a week or once every 2 weeks.

So, in summary, it's in a high light low to moderate flow area, hosted by 2 percs, regularly fed, and growing. I mean, perfect conditions, right? So, Why no bubble tips??!!??!!

I noticed that when they are a little stressed they will bubble... few weeks ago I droped a coral on my bbt and it got the bubbles. Today it still have the bubbles. When they are at the stores displays, they tend to be more stressed and with bubbles...
