Is there a product to dose trace elements?
I'm planning on using the three part dosing plan (found here: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php ) once I finish building my dosing pumps.
However, with this, I will need to replenish trace elements from time to time as well. I don't think water changes are a fool proof plan to keep all these elements where they need to be (unless you change 100% of the water all the time..). I think water changes will raise the value of trace elements but not to the levels as a full batch of water (please correct my thinking if I'm not getting something). After reading this article: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2011/10/chemistry I think I need to replenish other elements besides dkh, magnesium and calcium. Especially if corals do use strotium as a building block for their skeletons. So that said, what are the recommendations to increment trace elements besides the three that are dealt with in the 3 part recipe. Thanks! Feel free to correct me cause I'm still learning. |

Honestly, just worry about Cal, Alk and Mag. Let your regular water changes take care of the rest.
Do not dose what you cannot test for.
