Exhausting DI resin in under 60 gallon?
I am running thru my DI resin within only 60 gallons, this is kinda new as I used to get thru 500+ gallons before the DI was spent, now with all new filter and membranes and DI I am only getting thru 60 gallons before its pretty much spent...
TDS before the DI is 120, after DI 0. I do not recall the TDS being that high before the DI with my old filters. |

with a TDS at 120 after the membrane you will use up the DI very fast.
what is your water pressure? what is the TDS from tap? are you sure you have the membrane fully seated? sometimes the o-rings are hard to push all the way in.

TDS from tap is unknown.. I think they are since the screw is all the way down. |

the screw can still go all the way down even with the seals not all the way in.
how fast is the water comming out after the membrane but before the DI?

I have a 150 GPD system so the output before the DI is a constant stream. (RO/DI System background) So I bought the 75GPD RO/DI system from the fishguys, worked great, but once I took down my old 400+g system I just turned off the RO system and let it sit there (I know not the best for it.), but now that I am currently going to be setting up a 300+ system I figured I would give the RO/DI system a tune-up by buying all new filters, membranes, and DI as well as add a second 75GPD membrane upgrade from BRS. Now I am having the DI issues, So now I don't know if its the new filters or the added membrane.. What is a good TDS coming out of just the RO unit before the DI? |

that is very weird, I get 2 TDS after my RO with a tap of 385.
I am wondering if the 2nd membrane is hooked up correctly. Have you tried tring it out again with only the single membrane?

ok, just did some tests...
TDS rates: From the first three stages : 205 Next each membrane only 1st membrane : 150 2nd membrane : 140 Confused *EDIT* called BRS and sent them photos of the setup, hope they can help find my issue, I'll keep ya posted... Last edited by Reefnooblet; 11/01/2011 at 03:13 PM. |

Well, as my username states... I'm a nooblet! I found out the issue, when I was adding the 2nd membrane to my RO system I hooked up the drain and product lines wrong, and I was sending the waste to the DI..
Switched the lines and now everything is rocking.. LOL |
