I buy bulk sheets (100) of Sanfranciso Bay Brand Green Seaweed or Nori, I have never seen my Tangs or Angels eat brown, red or purple, they picked at it but never took to it. I am sure other people have had better success with other than green seaweed, but not me. I would think any brand is just as good as another, if you can find it a your supermarket, usually in the Chinese or Japanese food section, it is typically cheaper & it's the same thing.

Forget the stuff you buy at the LFS. Too pricey. Forget brands, too. Dried sea weed is just that: dried seaweed. No one brand is better than the other. Get un-flavored dried Nori, AKA unflavored sushi wrap, from your grocery store or oriental store.
If you realy want the best, get live seaweed. Gracilaria is often sold in cups at the LFS. So is caulerpa. If you have a tang, don't worry about caulerpa. The tang will demolish any caulerpa that dares take root in your DT. Roots, tendrils and all, the tang will root it out and eat it.

I would have agreed with them all being dried seaweed and no one was different before but disagree after I started using a new kind last year. My tangs LOVE it and is fairly priced and smells fresh when you open up the bag!

If anything, I would go with the green seaweed, whether it's from the LFS or the Asian market. My tangs weren't to fond of the brown or the red. This, along with some spirulina flakes and maybe some formula two frozen and your set IMO.

I've not seen a tang yet that does not like purple. I like rotating between purple, red, and green. I also like to soak the green in garlic as it is least favorite and helps protect them from ich.

I'm not "seeing" purple. That's ok. I've tried the red, the green, and the brown, I just thought the purple might have been something different. Seems as though it's in the mix.

Can you please show me some purple seaweed? The seaweed in this link is labeled as red, but I'm not "seeing" red. Do you know what I mean?
You know what, nevermind. I'm done... http://www.marinedepot.com/Ocean_Nut...ON1511-vi.html |

I'm with Palting on this one. We get nori from the seafood section at the local grocery store. My tangs, rabbitfish and blenny all love it... in fact, even the mithrax crabs like it.
