Skimmer overflowing...

I have an Octo Ex 150. For some reason the skimmer keeps overflowing and draining about 5 gallons of water before I can catch it. The tank has been reset for about 6 months and it has done this 4 times. Why? Am I just not keeping it clean enough? Thank goodness I have a long drain line and a 5 gallon bucket to catch all of the skimmate.

The tank is a 150 with a 120 sump, so the water stays exact in that chamber.

Same thing is happening with mine. I just treated with red slime remover and it has gone crazy. Running carbon in a reactor and feeding a little heavier than usual and two extra water changes. Open to any other suggestions....

There is something in the water that it doesn't like. If it was working before and you didn't adjust it, dump the skimmate and add some new water. Let it get rid of all of the junk in the water.
