that's really cool! I'd love to find one like that some day. I guess they don't come over to the states too often?

Thanks!

It is a Ophioderma Squamosissimus

I normally keep it well fed. I usually hand feed it chunks of formula 1 frozen cubes. The star is crazy strong. I have had it for a few years now.

Luckily it has a cave front and center in my tank so I see it often.

I just added 2 small serpents to my 40b so adding another probably isn't a good idea unless I remove one

I just entertained my family tonight by target feeding them and getting them to come all the way out of their rock! Mine got raw table shrimp tonight.

Cool they are a blast.

People are always like OMG an octopus I then point out that it has 5 arms... they reply "huh?"

Cool. I have had a teal one for about 6 years and he always comes out for food in the middle of the day. I've had fish die and he makes quick work of them. I'll notice a fish missing then see him super fat lol. he's not the killer tho.

I asked my LFS the other day about getting me another red serpent star. He said they are mostly only on the order sheets from the wholesalers in the summertime.

They can eat small blenny's gobies or any small bottow dwelling fish.

Its part of my clean up crew. I doubt it has ever killed one of my fish but has been found munching on an unfortunate fish. Just keep them well fed.
