Trouble to trouble shooting ICE CAP BALLAST t5

My t5 (4 bulbs 54 watts) were out. I checked and changed new bulbs. They were still out. I checked and found the fuse of the ballast was blown out. I changed the new fuse at the same 7amp. When turned on the light, there was a quick flash and the fuse was blown out immediately. I suspect the ballast is bad. Is it right? I don't want to change the new ballast and have the same problem: Short circuit. I appreciate any guidance. HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I had this problem on my Icecap 660 running two vho bulbs. The first time, it was the fuse. The 2nd time, it was a bad bulb. I replaced both bulbs and the problem went away. Just the other day, I had the same problem, with bulbs having been replaced just a month ago or so. This time, I checked the fuse and found nothing. I checked to make sure the vho bulbs were seated properly in the endcaps and found one to be loose. I removed and reset the bulb in and now its fine.

I am not sure if this will help you or not, but dont bet on the ballast right off the bat though.

Higher amp fuse?

I will seat the bulbs again to check. Wonder should I change the fuse to higher amp, from 7amp to 10amp. Is there a safety issue with this?
