Newbie 150 set up ???

150 set up advice?? Newbie

I just got a used 150 bowfront and the tank looks pretty clean if it was smaller I would take it outside and rinse it out ect???

It has to weigh 200 lbs and I still wanna get a couple friends to take it outside and fill it with water maybe some bleach or vinager?? s rise it out or something??

AM I CRAZY or what would I just set it in the grass or really I do not know what to do if it was a twenty gallon I would take it outside and move it around ect..

The size of this thing in my house is astonishing!!
The weight is really heavy empty!!!

My wife want the stand a different color so of course I gotta work on that??

Rinsing it with vinegar inside the house shouldn't be a problem, just siphon out the used water/vinegar when you are done (a 50/50 vinegar water mix works well unless the tank is very dirty and then go 100% vinegar). The leak testing however should be done outside or risk a major flood in the house. 150 gallons of water on the floor is much worse than you can imagine. If you are going to leak test it outside, clean it there as well.

I would definitely recommend doing the leak test outside like thegrun suggested. 150g of water on the floor will be a huge nightmare and will require plumbing company with equipment to remove.

i'm assuming your 150g is glass. if it is, it's got to weigh more than 200lbs, probably closer to 250 or 300lbs. the good thing is that you can roll it around on the glass when you clean it without having to worry about scratching it like acrylic tanks.

Tank testing??

Sound like some solid ideas??

I will leak test it with DI only and pump out some and add salt later???

At least thats what I am thinking.

300 lbs of glass the guys carrying it said that so you must be right!!!

Well the Adventure begins

For the stand I suggest spray painting it flat or satin finish black. I just sprayed a stand with flat black and it looks phenominal! I'll never use a brush or stain again.
