Power head too strong ?

I have a 40g breeder tank which has a nano 425gph ph on one side and I recently added a 945gph ph on the other side. I want to know is that too much ? Should I replace the 945 ? Should I remove it ? Should I put a timer on it ? Reason I'm asking is I think my fishes don't feel comfortable when that thing is on.

You could put it on a wave timer so that it only comes on periodically.

Is this a fish only tank or reef? If it is a fish only tank you have a little more flow than the fish would like, but if it is a reef tank the flow is okay. Perhaps two 750 GPH pumps would be a little better as far as the fish are concerned, but they should adapt to the flow. Try aiming the 945 powerhear more towards the surface to reduce the flow lower in the tank

maybe try and relocate the bigger pump somewhere so it's not directly pumping into fish swimming space? i feel like those two pumps should be fine on all the time... i over 2900gph on my 75gal and i almost feel like i need more pumps soon...

Its a fish only tank. I dont wanna buy another power head. Should just attach it to the back of the tank and face it to top of the water so it's more of indirect flow ? Or should I just use a timer ?

That would work as well.

I would just point it toward the surface. A little extra surface agitation is a good thing.

i bought 2 HK 750s for my 40B, WAAAY too much flow for that tank (with my return pump) It was a sand storm. I just use 1 Koralia 750 with my mag7 return pump and its golden.
