Just when you think there are no more suprises........SUPRISE!!
Well, my DT and sump have been in hypo for a month or so now. I thought, besides the LR that the tangs are eating on, the tank was sterile at 1.075. Low and behold as I am looking in my sump, I find something crawling up the divider. I reach in, throw it in the DT and it is a mini Nassarius Vibex! I was like, whoa! A) I thought they were all dead and B) its surviving hypo!? I was like cool and moved on to the sump looking around taking mental notes and low and behold, there was another one on the opposite side of the refuge divider, lol. Well, I also found a blue hermit 2-3 weeks ago too. He is a little sluggish but still alive moving around the rock work in the DT.
Kind cool! |

I'm thinking perhaps you mean 1.0075? 1.075 sounds more like hyper than hypo. Given the life you're seeing, is it possible that your method for assessing salinity is miscalibrated? I just discovered my DT was around 1.021 because I hadn't calibrated things lately, so I'm a bit sensitive to that.

I always get confused with those "0"'s, lol. Yea, it would be .0075 . No, I calibrated to 0 with RO water and upped the water to .0075 . I guess they got used to it. Nice to know I have a little more life in there besides fish, even though I didnt mean to use them as an experiment.
