Switching from bio balls to refugium???

I currently have a section in my sump for bio balls and was thinking on redoing the whole sump to take the bio balls out and incorporate a refugium. i've been researching the refug design and so far what i have com up with is that i am going to have the water come into the first section of 3 sections where the skimmer will sit and the the refug will be in the middle and the return at the end. Is this correct or should i redesign it? will try to post sketch tomorrow

That sequence is good and what I use in my tanks. The other common set up is to have the return in the middle chamber and tee the drain line into both the skimmer and refugium sections (on the left and right hand sides). This allows for a slower water flow through the refugium. I have never had issues with too strong a flow through my refugium, but they have always been fairly large.
