sump/fuge head height
I currently have a 55 gal. I am soon going to break it down to drill it. Will not be disturbing to sand, but will remove everything else. I am making a 20 gal long sump and a 10 gal fuge. The sump below will be 4 feet down. The fuge will be 3 feet above. I want to supply the fuge from the same return pump from the sump. Will a Mag 7 be enough? I will control flow back to fuge with gate valve. I am also looking to do a 1500gal overflow from gl*******s. Will this be to much. I have deliberated for 2 months over drilling or HOB. I just feel better drilling, even if I tear it all down and rebuild. I also hope to get live rock to add to the display and fuge. I now have about 50-60 lbs. Will I be ok with what my plans are?

Always go with a larger over flow then you thing you might need. If it is too small it will make noise. That being said your mag 7 is a good choice of return. It will give you around 300-400 GPH with your headloss. When you drill your tank make sure you keep the drill bit cool with water.

A better choice would be to tee the drain from the tank into both the refugium and the sump (with the refugium gravity draining into the sump). That way you will maintain the maximum flow back into the DT.

Not able to drain the fuge to the sump without it falling 7 feet. Looking for it to drain straight into the display to keep pods from taking A BIG ride up the pipe.
Will this overflow work for the fuge. I have a regular 10gal tank for this http://www.glass-holes.com/Super-Nan...ghsnanokit.htm |

Most 55 gallon glass tanks are tempered on all sides. It is best to assume that ALL 55 gallon tanks are tempered, rather than risk destroying the tank, despite home brewed methods of determining this property. You won't want to be drilling this tank.
