Sea Swirl

I am looking to buy two of the 3/4 sea swirls for my 150 gallon tank. I wanted to ask a few questions before buying. I was researching online and it says they only agetate the surface of the water.
*Can you add pieces of pvc to get it to go deeper in your tank?
*Are they reliable?
*Can i get some basic feedback on this product.
Thanks

They don't only agitate the surface. You get adequate flow from them (especially 2). I know some have modded them successfully but I am unsure to what degree and I do not know if they can be modded to sit deeper in the tank. I ran 2 3/4'' on my 120 for a few years then gave them to my brother. he still uses them to this day. IME they are quite reliable.

i have 4 on my 240 and i am pushing them with a reeflo dart 3600gph. with the head loss i am getting about 790gph on each sea swirl 3/4" which 800gph is their max anyways. to answer ur question no the dont just agitate the surface. mine have a lot of push of water about 3 inch under m water line. i can probably attach a pvc and make it go deeper but u will need a good size pump to drive them.

Tagging along. I've heard a lot of bad things about the reliability so am curious on what other's experiences are. I've been considering using two 3/4" on my 140 gallon frag tank currently in process.

You can't go wrong with Sea Swirls I have been running them for 10+ years.
Some have been repaired but that too is an easy process.
They can be run low but then you need a siphon break for sure!

I used 2 3/4in on my 100g and my newer 150g and they worked great for me.
Never had any problems with mine.
I still have them but put up for now and using Ecotech.

PS. What kinda LFS you have by you.? I might get around there sometime since your not to far away.

GrampaDon, not sure if you are referencing OP or me but I use Premium Aquatics as my LFS. You have The Reef Aquarium and honestly one of the best LFSs in Indiana although the owner may be a bit biased on some opinions

Anyone have a photo of a SeaSwirl with the box open? I'd love to see what makes these run.

Never mind. Found what I needed.
