Which should go in first?
I have decided on my stocking list but I am unsure about what order I should introduce the middle chunk of the list. Any help and pointers would be great especially being that they are all listed as peaceful!
5 Resplendent or 3 Lyretail Anthias 1 Royal Gramma 2 Pylei Fairy Wrasse 2 Laboutei Fairy Wrasse 1 Exquisitus Fairy Wrasse 1 Rhomboidalis Fairy Wrasse The first of these additons is 2 months out, but I am only asking because I do need to give my LFS a two month notice on them so he can get them. I was told by my local club to add all of the fairy wrasses at once, but I don't think my budget would allow me to purchase them all at once. I will only be able to get three at a time tops. Thanks in advance! |

1-Wrasses 2-Anthias 3-Royal Gramma
If you were to have any chance on getting all those wrasses to get along then putting them in all at once would be your best chance. Same goes for the anthias. Personally I would suggest against having 6 fairy wrasses, because the chances of aggression between these fish would be to great, especially with what I know some fairy wrasses can go for. At most I'd say 2 would be the max I would put in and I put them in at the same time. I always suggest QT'ing all your fish as well, but the wrasses would likely need separate QT tanks or one that has a partition to keep them apart.

I never knew that fairy wrasses were that aggressive. If they are, wouldn't having only two increase aggression on the individual? Thanks for the suggested order! The anthias will all be added at the same time because I don't want any females starting to turn male while I QT separate groups.

Although not considered to be an aggressive fish they can tend to be aggressive with members of the same species. Yes, having 2 in the tank may still cause them to show that aggression, but because of the size of your display tank they should have enough space to avoid each other/establish their own little territories.
Also, I would still add them at the same time and I'd also have the lights off in the tank for a couple hours or longer (add them when the lights are scheduled to go off).
