Fresh water dip?

Is it OK to do a fresh water dip on gsp to get rid of worms not sure if they are bad or not but my gsp wont open and I see worms on it

I prefer a saltwater dip with Revive. However first I'd determine if the worms are cause or effect. Some worms are harmful and some worms are cleaning up the waste causing the problem.

No pics they are too small about as thick as a hair but anywhere from 1 to 3 inches long
