never used a calcium reactor, but if your just starting off i don't think your system would need that type of equipment. Kalk would supply your tank just fine through auto top off. When the supply of calcium reduces, and kalk cannot keep the levels up, you could always add a calcium reactor. Important thing to remember is the effect they have on the pH. Calcium reactor will lower it and kalk (i believe) will raise it.

The calcium reactor will work for a heavy sps and I believe it lowers your pH. Kalk will raise your pH and alkalinity and maintain calcium levels.

Just remember if you go with kalk your have to drip it or set it on an auto-top of preferably with slower pump like an aqualifter.

yeah there is no need for a calcium reactor for you yet. i havent used kalk yet, but i had great success using Bionic 2 part solution, calcium and alk, and then mag seperately also. its not even so much for the corals or a specific thing. its for a stable tank that will be closer to what the water should be anyways.

p.s, not a huge fan of the plant background on the predator tank.

So I have updated my 40 gallon agresive tank. I have added a hob refuge and I spray painted the back black and added some more rock thus I changed my rock work!
