Vodka treatment

Today I placed 1 shot of vodka for my 150 gal tank. I am. Trying to reduce my nitrates. How often should I put vodka and how much?

My thoughts exactly. You're lucky you haven't lost everything from dumping a shot glass full of vodka in your tank. We deal in milliliters (ml) when beginning our carbon dosing regimen. Keep the shot glasses for yourself...not your tank.

Read the above article on carbon dosing carefully. VERY carefully.

Please do not dose vodka until you understand what your doing.

Post pictures and describe it.

+1 my rule is NEVER put anything in the tank that might affect params, livestock, etc until I know 100% what the effects will be. Especially things not formulated specifically for tanks. As far as what I've read vodka dosers use very small amounts...shot glass seems like a lot.

If you post a pic I'm sure someone can ID it. Its hard to know without seeing. (If you did and I can't see it on my phone, disregard me and consider it a bump )

Brown on your rocks is diatoms most of the time. If your tank is new thats what it is. I think for your 180 you should start off with .6ml and I hope your shot glass was little.
