LEDs

Forgive me but LEDs are new to me. Someone please explain the difference between CREE and Bridge Lux. I am seeing light sets with both.

Thanks

Efficiency. Cree LEDs will win this hands down, cheap ones like bridgelux are still capable of producing plenty of light it just takes more LEDs and more electricity.

So would 69-72 bridgelux work on a 40 gallon? I was looking at 23 white, 40 blue and 6 uv purple. They are on dimmable drivers, heatsink and 80 degree lens. Will this work for mixed reef with SPS?

I have and only plan to use Cree LEDs so by default I can only offer advice on them not the bridgelux. I know 30-36 Crees on a 40 breeder is perfect. I am actualy growing sps on my sandbed in my 58 with only 30 Crees with 40/65 degree optics. My fixture is also 16" off the water. Optics are completely dependant upon the overall height of your fixture above your water level. If you dig a little I know there are threads that will tell you how many bridgelux LEDs it takes to equal one Cree. Hope that helps.

Anyone know where I can get some Cree LEDs for around 400$? They need to be able to handle SPS in 40 breeder

Here you go add a heatsink and a dimming kit!
