Are you going to have a sump? Just curious as I am planning a frag tank set up now, just a little bigger than yours. It will be a 40 breeder.

I would go skimmer less only if you don't plan on doing frequent water changes. If you do say 4 gallons a week, maybe even every other week, I would run skimmer less but would also play it by sight/algae build up.

Its pretty sad there are not many "if any really" budget friendly nano skimmers that kick butt for tanks 8-22 gallons, I say budget like "100ish range".

I would say no way. dosing correctly and Gfo/carbon is all you should need.

Yes we really need a cheap skimmer for nano tank

Reef Octopus recently introduced a small in tank skimmer that retails for a little over $100. I think that it is called the BH 50 or something like that.

You guys are gonna laugh...I just set up a 20 gal long frag tank. I'm using a Skilter 400...yes, you heard me right. I had an old one sitting in my basement. It moves 400 gallons of water per hour, so it makes waves, HOB so there is no plumbing, it's huge, holds lots of media, functions as a fuge, it skims, has a hole drilled in the bottom for a Coolworks chiller. It does everything except wash my car. It's the latest rage...
