Low light, or shaded from high light LED at least
I have a jbj28g LED pro (the higher output led nano). I have plenty of spots and idea's for corals to place amongst the various high light / high flow (mp10 and 350gph+ AIO return). However, the way I ended up placing my live rock, has given me a couple locations for some lower light corals. Two locations are about the size of a baseball, the rock overhang above it isnt solid, but pretty solid. So for direct light, there really isn't any, there is reflected light from off the side of the aquarium, but nothing direct. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for glueing into this location, remember, I'd say a baseball (slightly smaller) could fit into these two caverns and only 1/8 of said ball would get light from above (20" depth).
Thanks in advance, I was wondering if a fiji yellow leather (because of no stock) might we okay, but Im just new to this and not too sure on even where to start. Not interested in zoo's, mushrooms, or GPS (have this already in other areas of the tank). -John |

To Reef Central Don't know your current experience level, but have you looked into non-photosynthetic corals such gorgonians or maybe a sun coral.

Im back into the hobby after 20 years out of it, I was one of the 1985-1990 reef guys who ran a 300gallon reef (5x250w 12k hallides), I left the hobby after graduating college and leaving my job at a LFS from San Diego, there was a point and time where I thought I was experienced, but back then, experienced meant corals took at least a year to die, vs todays experts that actually get them to grow and frag them out. (Believe me the times have changed).
I havent had any gorgonians this time around (but the large branch style that comes to mind ((I may be wrong) I dont think would work). I remember carnation corals and seem to remember they are near the sun? The general vicinity has a golf ball sized lobo, (5 inches or so ((3 inch out, 2 inch down) so feeding will already be happening to this area, so the non-photo's make sense, gonna run with this, Im sure there will be quite a bit of other recommendations, I would like to say I am a intermediate though, so the harder corals (Cauliflower/Carnation) probably should stay away from. I suppose that maybe if I could find a perfect sized rock with some deep purple mushrooms, but I have two football sized rocks that came from an established tank and had 30 -40 mushrooms on them, so, I jus thought maybe I'd give something a try there, that couldn't be kept elsewhere, thanks for the input, will await to here from more of you. -John |

Could a bubble be placed under a rock over hang? Its the high output LED jbj 28g nano version, tanks 24" tall I think, so at 18" - 20" from the top, there is depth for light to reflect to it, but not directly. I suppose I could look for a small bubble and give it a run, I know manually feeding those type corals is necessary as well. those pink tissued bubbles dont seem to have a lot of color (does that mean not too much photo synth?)
