Reefkeeper temp probe

Just got a reef keeper lite in the mail and the temp probe is stating my tank is 75.5 but my cheap 2 dollar topfin glass thermometer says 77 or 78 ish...not sure what to believe right now. I have heard the probes come calibrated from the factory. Hard to put my trust in the 2 dollar one, might explain why i lost my frogspawn as well if temp has been that low.

Trust the RKL

It is probably right. It's pretty hard to confirm a difference that slight by touch...but 75 is pretty chilly, while 78 should feel just a little cool.

Here's another way to get a vague idea - if you have a digital thermostat in the house, leave some water sit around until it hits room temp (use a small cup and give it several hours) and test with the probe.
