Anyone know anything about Skimz Monster Skimmers?
I just got off the phone with a sales rep from a online store and he recommended a Skimz Monster 201. The skimmer I was going to get was a Octopus xp2000 but I never heard of this Skimz brand so Im kinda worried about purchasing this. Anyone have any input on these Skimz? Thank you

Search? I found over 20 pages related to the Skimz line. Hint...advanced search, type skimz in the search box and limit it to lighting and equipment forum and read away. :-)

good skimmers. once you tune it dont touch it cause they can be a little tricky to get right. my sm161 pulls out really nasty, dark green stuff. Also they have a nice small footprint

Let me throw this into the picture. I have a 110 gal tank with a 30 gal sump/refuge. The skimz he recommends is rated for 553 gal if I'm not mistaken. Is that over doing it? Or should I stick with the 180 gal xp2000? I'd rather be safe than sorry later on.

I say stick with proven performance.. Reef Octopus has been around along time and builds reliable proven skimmers... you only want to have to buy a skimmer once.
