Aptasia - but only in the overflow and some in the refugiuam
I have a 125 gallon - 72" tank that has been up for over a couple years.
I have not Aptasia in the main display, but I am starting to see a lot in the built in overflows. My question is - is it a problem to have that much there, as long as it doesn't spread? Or could it be causing something else? If I need to get rid of it - what is the best way? Peppermint shrimp in the overflows? or drop by drop on top of the aphasia - I'll never get it all this way I'm afraid. Thanks and let me know!! Scott |

Aiptasia can spread very fast, if it were me I would try to rectify the problem. Peppermint shrimp work very well but probably not in the overflows. Joes Juice or Aiptasia X would be your best bet.

I had an enormous problem with those. I bought two berghia nudibranchs and they wiped my tank clean in about 8 weeks. it was amazing and I haven't had a single one come back since. Eventually they will spread to your display. Getting a couple of those guys will be well worth it!

My tank is littered with these eyesores. Deal harshly and quickly with them as they will spread rapidly and in spots you dont see or cannot get to easily.

I always have a couple somewhere in the system. I usually don't mess with them unless they are an eyesore in the DT. Then I will inject them with lemon juice during a tank maintenance session. A lil lemon juice every couple of months keeps them in check. Not a big deal.

I would think that someone in your display eats them already...they are in the overflows and refugium? Either you haven't noticed the aiptasia in the display yet, or someone's eating them.
