I need suggestions for next fish....
So I have a 65g FOWLR. Currently I have...
- Ocellaris Clown - Diamond Goby - Bangaii Cardinal - Skunk Cleaner Shrimp - Bloodred fire shrimp - Assorted snails/hermits I am looking for a fish that is more peaceful and obviously compatible with all of the above. I want a colorful fish that really takes advantage of the whole water column. Any suggestions? |

I am skeptical about dwarf angels. I had a lemonpeel angel but it really didn't bode well int he tank and eventually wiped out 2 fish and a shrimp.

A Lemonpeel Angel took out a shrimp? If you already have those other fish in the tank & established, I don't think a dwarf angel would seriously harm any of those fish, however individual fish do have what we would call a personality or temperment so there is always that chance. The angel would probably end up the Alpha fish but they fit your criteria, very colorful & take advantage of the whole water column.

How about a firefish or a scissor fish? I love the dart family!

I’m not familiar with the lemonpeel but I have a coral beauty and a flame in 2 different reef tank and have had no issues. Was your lemonpeel and adult or a juvenal when you got it?

It was an adult. It definitely would bully the other fish..never nipped obviously but made them extremely stressed.

That was most likely the problem. You should be able to keep any of the dwarfs (I’m fond of the Flame) but try to get the small ones they will adapt easier and not take advantage of it's size. I have a pigmy angel, a flame angel and a yellow tail damsel in my 28gal. reef and they get alone just fine. They are all about the same size. Now to avoid the post that will most likely forthcoming, I understand that the damsel and flame could by far out grow the pigmy but being tank mates for over 4 month I’m not expecting and issue.

I just picked up a flame today for my GF as a valentines gift!! Lol. Not crazy red but brighter than the orange ones... $30!! Love it.
Pigmy angles are a QT must!! They have parasites in there gills that in the wild can survive on the nutrients in the water table and the extra food passing threw the gills. They are grazers like tang so it's a constant food sorce. In captivity we can't supplement and feed like the open ocean so the parasites feed off of the fish. Killing them eventually. My LFS freshwater dips them untill all the little buggers stop dropping from the gills and then puts them up for sale. I am doing a 2 week QT with a double dose of Prazi Pro. It does the trick.

Any of the small angels, flame, coral beauty, lemonpeel, pigmy, etc. would be fine. But how about asnother occelaris and/or pair the Bangaii?
Might look at the gobies for possibilities as well. Really, it's up to you, not us. Jeff |

Let's not forget a RC favorite!! The six line wrass!!!! I got one of them today too. A tinny little guy. Only about 3/4" long. It's been at the LFS for about 2weeks and is a spry little guy.

Chalk bass is an excellent suggestion. An often overlooked fish.
