I have one one my refugium tank and one on my frag tank. The way it's set up the return is T'd off to the refugium and the refugium overflows to the frag tank and the frag tank overflows back in to the sump. The entire set up is very quiet. I have both the 700gph and the nano versions. If I increase the flow (using a Panworld 150) I can get it to gurgle a little but that's running a LOT of flow through it (like totally covering the overflow teeth). I say go for it.

I just installed one on my 125g setup about 6 weeks ago. I purchased the 1500 gph kit.

Absolutely love it! Drilling it was a lot easier than I thought it would be, albeit slow... They have a forum also where you can ask questions.

Excellent product & service in my opinion.

I have a 40g breeder and a 20g sump. I used the 700gph glass-holes kit which included the glass hole saw and it is great.

As stated it is slow drilling (if done correctly) but that's what I expected. The only thing that I may add to the instructions once you get it, is use the template that they give you, and tape it to the tank where you want to drill the hole. Fill the template with water and start to drill for just a few seconds. Then once you have started the hole take off the template and then get some play doh or plumbers putty and make a snake out of it so that you can dame up water around the hole that you already started. once that is done fill that section with water and keep drilling. This will help keep the glass cold because its always in water.

If that doesn't make any since then youtube drilling glass aquariums and keep looking until you find someone who is using play doh or plumbers putty to make a dame.

its a great unit though. the people are easy to talk to and shipping was fast.

I have the nano on my frag tank and the 1500 on my 120g. I really like them! I like how they don't take up that much space. Drilling is easy ime too, just go slow.

I have one 700 kit on my 90 gallon with a eheim 1262 return that has been running for about a year and like sabboth said the best part of it is that it does not take any space in the tank like the reef ready tanks do. They have the best customer service and will answer any questions you have. The only problem I had was tuning the gurgling noise, but after I got it it is very quiet. Make sure you drill it in the right height otherwise your water level will be off. Otherwise I highly recommend it. I think the the 700 kit is more than enough for your set up.

What version would those using these recommend for a 46g bow with 15h sump pushed by a mag 3? ...nano con dientes (something like that) or the 700gph model?

Does overkill on the overflow lead to noise (gurgling)? I'm estimating I'll get about 250gph out of the mag 3 in this set up....so a nano model *should* work, but if I ever want to upgrade the pump I'm thinking the 700gph model may be better.

Advice and comments?

Yes the closer you are to the max flow the louder it will be. I have a tunze silence on my Nano w/teeth, if I have it turned up all the way you can here the overflow, dial it back a bit and it is almost silent

Here is the 1500 gph installed on my 125. I like how small it is. I would never try to run 1500 gph through it though....it would be too noisy. I'm running around 700 gph and it's quiet.

I've got a 700gph unit on my 75gal. I put about 500gph though it. When I first got it, it was fairly noisy, but not nearly as bad as my old HOB overflow. I got a bit of Enkamat and it's now 100% silent. I just need to remember to cllean out the enkamat once a month or so.

how do you adjust the gph. I want to get the 1500 model to use on my 110 gallon and i already have a mag 9.5 so do you just install gated valves and partially close them a little to adjust the flow rate?

The overflow only drains what is pumped into the tank. So if your mag 9.5 pumps say 800 gph after head loss then that is what will be going through the overflow. Never install a valve on a non siphon drain. Valves should only be installed on the return pump to control flow.

I use a mag 9.5 as well. With only 3ft or so of head, the 700gph unit actually just barely was keeping up with the mag 9.5. I think the 700gph unit is a tad underrated. It was noisy as all get out though. I dialed the flow from my mag down to about 3.4 flow.

58G rimless, 700 GPH kit, with an eheim 1260 pump, teed off to feed 2 reactors.

you can get this tank with a factory overflow, but its waaay too intrusive IMO. i added some poly to help with the splash, and elongated the teeth with a dremel, added a couple of slots to the ends of the overflow box.. i had a close call one time, my starfish managed to span the entire length of the overflow with his body......almost flooded my tank.

Sweet tank. Glad your mishap wasn't worse.

I just ordered their 700 gph overflow kit to put on a 75G I'm starting. Pretty excited. How can you figure how high to place the overflow to have the desired water level in your DT?
