TruVu 75 T Aquasystem

Greetings just acquired this system and was wondering of anyone has it in use and what your thoughts and recommendations are?

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to build a sump an ditch the bio balls sump in the back. That way you can slap a nice big skimmer in there along with othe equipment you may end up using.

Yep, bioballs are nitrate factories. If your tank is established, don't take them all out at once. A few every water change is the way to go.

I have not set up the tank. Which is why I want to go slow and build this system to its best capabilities.
I have not used the Bio Balls before. I would think that all forms of bio filtration would be benificial. What is the reasoning behind the comments on te Bio Balls.
Thanks for the input!

BioBalls cannot convert nitrates to their gaseous form, live rock can do that for you so it's a much better biological filter media. I hate to say it but buying those kinda pre made tanks are not really ideal for a reef setup. There okay for smaller tanks but for a 75 your gonna want a nice size skimmer and maybe some reactors which will be difficult considering you have a tiny space.

You can still use that area for other things and just drill out the tank for a sump.

Thanks for that. I am leaning towards using the area for just skimming and drilling it for a sump- refugium. the adaptation will require adding more slots and drilling. What would b a recommended size for the sump/refugum? I can open up the back of the stand to accomidate it and want to make sure that i don't make the opening too large.
