20 day challenge....Can I/you do it....with a poll
For 20 days, I challenge myself and you to make at least 20 post/comments. Even if they are just words of encouragement. I know this doesn't seem like a lot but it leaves me some room to grow. On average how many post are you making?
Any taker on this challenge or shall I go it alone.

my average is .62 post a day...if I feel like other ppl can benefit from my words or thoughts I generally post.
there is so much good info on RC and great ppl to talk to I think it would be pretty easy to do 5 post a day and keep them meaningful too. |

And yes I am a RC Sponsor, and I do have access to FS section. Really just thought it would be an interesting thread.

I'm one of those that might do one or two per day (this makes 2 for today). Every now and then I might sit down for a couple of hours and post 10-20 times for that one day.
My hometown club has developed it's own website and I spend most of my time there. Even there, I am still at about 3-5 posts per day.

some days I'm posting a lot, but then I go days with nothing. Sometimes I get busy, but sometimes I just assume there's plenty of other people involved so I won't be missed. Sometimes that's true... but if everyone felt that way participation would dwindle. I wish my local club tried something like this, when participation dwindles in a small group it's really hard to get it going again. Sometimes those short posts mean a lot to people that don't have a local support group. "Goo luck!" "Sorry for your loss " When none of your friends understand why you care so much about a box of water, it's nice to know the virtual community cares, too.

Personally, I do not like to comment on threads unless I have something of value to add to the thread or have a question to ask related to the original poster. However, I definitely agree it is usually a good thing to participate more. Especially in online forums where the primary source of info comes from participation of its members.
I don't think it is possible for me to post 20 meaningful posts a day. Unless I scour the forums at all times (like I don't do that already ). But, I will try to make at least 5 meaningful posts a day. I average .73 posts a day at the moment. edit: Oh btw, your " > 5 " sign means more than 5 a day. You want to change that to " < 5 " That is if you can, I have never set up a poll thread before

In my opinion, sharing is one thing. Posting just for the sake of posting is counter productive to the point of the forums.

I didn't get the impression that the OP wanted to make junk posts. I thought the point was to increase involvement and participation.

Looking at how many members are on at any given time, one has to wonder how much combined knowledge there is on this forum. There are over 7300 members on at the moment. Of course that is not taking into consideration people who left their browsers on but are afk, or otherwise not actively browsing this site.
Imagine how much more info there would be if everyone of them made 2 posts or so a day sharing their insight, experience, and failed or successful experiments. Things like H2O2, algae turf scrubbing, deep sand beds, and LR as filtration would of never made it to me if it wasn't for people sharing their knowledge on the internet. I had a 75g setup in the mid 90s, I didn't even know what live rock was at the time and relied on bio-balls and a magnum canister filter for filtration. I had coral skeletons as decor and freshwater gravel as substrate. If it wasn't for websites like this, I would probably still be doing the same thing or altogether out the hobby due to frustration.
